Rashtriya Ekta Diwas – 2014 Celebrations at Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar

3dave_bOn the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, mass activities across the country were planned involving students of all classes and different boards on 31st October, 2014 by the CBSE. Four schools in the City were made the coordinators of these activities and Police DAV Public School was one of them. Sixteen schools from the region with about 180 students from Classes VI to XII participated in activities such as poster making, painting, collage, paper reading, jingle writing and indigenous game kho-kho. The theme of these activities was Unity and Integrity; Swach Bharat; Unity is Bliss; National Symbols; Festivity; Diversity in Languages; Geographical Variations; and the like. All the students showed great enthusiasm and wholeheartedly participated in these events. A pledge was taken on this occasion in the presence of the Special Invitee, Mangat Ram Pasla, CPM, Punjab Secretary, by students and teachers of various participating schools.

Special invitee, Mr Pasla addressed the gathering and spoke at length about the need for unity, safety and security in the present scenario. Gurpeet Johal, a faculty member of the school enlightened all the guests and students about the life and work of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his extraordinary contributions towards the nation.

The Run for Unity was organized and participated by large number of students and teachers. An online Quiz was also organized based on the life of ‘Sardar Patel’ and on the theme of unity, safety and security. Approximately 325 students participated in this quiz.
