An extempore declamation contest organized by the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd on 21st August, 2014 was held in the Auckland House Girls School. The chief guest for the event was Deputy Director SJVN, V.K. Sharma. An interactive session of questions and answers and informal discussions took place regarding the power sector among the students and the representatives of SJVN.
A quiz contest was also held for the students to gauge their knowledge about the power sector and its growing importance in the recent times. The winners of the Quiz were First: Ayushi Thakur; Second: Bismeet Kaur; Third: Baldina John, who were awarded Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 respectively. Consolation prizes were given to Muskaan Verma and Oshima along with a cash prize of Rs. 1,000 each respectively.
As the programme concluded school Director-Principal Sunita John congratulated all the winners and said, “I am very proud to see the commitment and the hard work of the students in the competition today. I would like to thank our chief guest for being here with us today. I would also like to thank SJVN for organizing this completion through which the girls got an opportunity to learn a lot about the power sector”.
