Students of St Xavier High School presented a colourful variety entertainment programme during the Annual Prize Function 2014, held in the school premises here today. The function began with the lighting of the lamp by the School Principal Pawan Sharma followed by a devSX1otional welcome song. The guests of honour were the proud parents who were present in large numbers to encourage their kids. Principal Sharma warmly greeted and welcomed the guests as he read the school report and enlightened the parents about the academic activities and progress of the students. He emphasized that the focus of education was on the all round development of the kids and it was important to nurture them according to their individual needs to make the good citizens.

What followed next was pure treat for the eyes as students had prepared quite a few entertaining programmes for the day. Tiny tots — Ishant, Yashika, Ridhvi, Mohit, Parth, Samridhi, Jagrit, Harshit, Aditi and Chanchal — stepped on the stage to dance on the tune of ‘Shala la’, while Tashi, Manishita, Himanshu, Priya, Sana, Srishti, Neha and Shallu performed a Garbha Folk dance.

The mantra of Yoga was then touched upon as various asanas were performed by kids. Other equally entertaining and mesmerizing items performed by were the Punjabi Gidda by the junior and the senior classes and the rhythmic display with Laziums. The solo Tabla performance by Guriqbal received huge applause from the audience, and a Kangri song by school teacher Manjula Sharma was quite melodious.

SX2The theme based Hindi play titled ‘Shiksha aur Khel’ was very well appreciated by the audience, sending across the message that both studies and playing are equally important and parents should understand this before pushing their kids towards burdened education. The famous Himachali Natti touched base with both the students and audience who greatly enjoyed the dance and lauded the efforts of the school principal and the teachers who put up a great show. Faculty members Ravinder Kaur, Roopa Dhiman, Manjula Sharma, Kiran, Richa, Anu and Meenakshi to name few worked hard with the students to make this show a great success.
