Indian Railways has honoured its women cricketing stars by promoting Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana, and Renuka Singh Thakur to the Group ‘B’ Officer-grade post of Officer on Special Duty (Sports) through out-of-turn promotions, recognising their stellar performances in India’s victorious 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup campaign. Under this promotion, all three players will receive the pay and benefits of a Group ‘B’ Gazetted Officer as per Level-8 of the Pay Matrix (7th CPC), providing them both financial security and administrative responsibilities within the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB). Earlier in November, they were felicitated at Rail Bhawan by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Pratika Rawal, a Senior Clerk from Northern Railway and opening batter from Delhi, played a key role in India’s World Cup win. Renuka Singh Thakur, a Junior Clerk and right-arm medium-fast bowler, delivered match-winning spells in crucial games, while Sneh Rana, a Commercial cum Ticket Clerk and all-rounder from Uttarakhand, contributed significantly with both bat and ball. This move reflects Indian Railways’ long-standing tradition of supporting and promoting sporting talent, enabling its athletes to represent India on the global stage.
