No Real Progress, Just False Claims: Thakur

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, has strongly criticized the state government, stating that CM Sukhu has no concrete achievements beyond making false claims. Speaking on the three-year anniversary of the current government, Thakur said the administration has failed to introduce even a single statewide plan that benefits the common people.

According to Thakur, the government lacks any serious initiatives to address the state’s weakening economy. While repeatedly talking about making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant, the government has not taken any meaningful steps and has undermined efforts made by previous administrations. Thakur emphasized that the state’s economy will strengthen through effective economic reforms, not empty promises.

He also pointed out that the Chief Minister has not revealed any specific measures taken under the so-called “system change” initiative to make the state self-reliant. The current government is operating mainly on taxes and loans, while misleading speeches, manipulated data, and baseless statements have failed to boost the economy.

Thakur further criticized the government for discouraging industries, fostering corruption, and creating a hostile environment for investors, which has eroded confidence and halted new industrial development. Many self-employment programs initiated by previous governments have been stopped, and incomplete projects continue to trouble young entrepreneurs.

He added that if the government had any real achievements, it would have highlighted them during the anniversary celebrations rather than blaming the Centre or the previous administration. Instead, the three-year term has largely been consumed by internal power struggles among the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and ministers, leaving public welfare unattended.

Thakur concluded that the real face of “system change” is becoming increasingly apparent to the people of Himachal. The government, he said, works under the influence of contractors and corrupt elements while ignoring the genuine needs of the citizens. He urged the government to focus on public welfare rather than false claims, which would serve the state far better.
