Under the statewide Anti-Chitta Abhiyaan launched by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Police has stepped up its crackdown on drug trafficking with coordinated raids across all districts of the state.

According to a police spokesperson, the second phase of the campaign witnessed a synchronized search and raid operation conducted simultaneously throughout Himachal Pradesh. The special drive was executed as a joint intelligence-based operation involving the State Intelligence Department, Armed Police units and District Police teams.

During the operation, 145 locations were searched. Authorities recovered 406 grams of charas, 19.236 grams of chitta (heroin), 124 grams of poppy husk (chura-post) and 4,65,100 milliliters of illicit liquor. Six cases were registered under the NDPS Act and four under the Excise Act.

Police officials stated that drug detection kits were deployed during the raids and the entire process of search, seizure and arrest was properly videographed. All actions were carried out in accordance with the NDPS Act, BNSS, Arms Act and other relevant legal provisions.

Reaffirming its commitment to a “Chitta-Free Himachal,” the state government and police department said the campaign would be expanded further in a comprehensive, scientific and zero-tolerance manner. Citizens, especially youth, have been urged to report any drug-related activities to 112 or the nearest police station, with assurance that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

The spokesperson added that under the Chief Minister’s leadership and with active public cooperation, the police are making sustained efforts to dismantle drug networks in the state, with encouraging results already visible.
