The Himachal Pradesh State Election Commission has initiated the process for delimitation of wards in four Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state. The move follows the creation or inclusion of areas in certain municipal bodies by the Urban Development Department of the state government.

According to the notification issued by the Commission, areas have been included in Municipal Committee Rohru in Shimla district and Municipal Corporation Una in Una district. Additionally, Nagar Panchayat Bir in Kangra district has been newly created, while changes have also been made in Nagar Panchayat Narkanda.

The Commission has released a schedule for the ward delimitation process. As per the schedule, the draft proposal for ward delimitation will be published on March 12, 2026. Residents of the respective municipal areas can submit objections or suggestions regarding the proposal by March 19, 2026.

Deputy Commissioners concerned will examine and dispose of the objections by March 23, 2026. Appeals against their orders can be filed before the respective Divisional Commissioners within seven days of the order, and these appeals will be decided by April 1, 2026.

The final delimitation orders will be issued by the Deputy Commissioners on or before April 2, 2026. The process of reservation of seats in the wards will be completed by April 6, 2026, and the final report will be submitted to the government the same day.

The State Election Commission stated that if no objections or appeals are received within the stipulated period, the concerned Deputy Commissioners may directly issue the final delimitation orders and begin the reservation process.
