Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed every year on 28 May to raise awareness about the importance of good menstrual health and hygiene management. The day aims to break the stigma and taboos surrounding menstruation and promote access to safe and affordable menstrual products, proper sanitation facilities, and accurate health education for women and girls. The date 28 May was chosen to reflect the average length of a menstrual cycle (28 days) and the average duration of menstruation (5 days). It is a global platform that encourages open dialogue, gender equality, and better support systems so that menstruation does not become a barrier to education, work, or daily life.
