The International Shimla Summer Festival 2026 concluded on a celebratory note with a special felicitation ceremony organized by the Festival Organizing Committee to honour the artists, cultural troupes, bands, and performers whose vibrant presentations added colour, energy, and cultural richness to the five-day festival held from June 8 to 12.
The gratitude ceremony was held at the Bachat Bhawan Auditorium, where artists representing various cultural groups from across northern India were recognized for their valuable contribution to the success of the festival.
Participating cultural troupes included teams from Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir, facilitated through the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala. Instrumental and folk performance groups such as Mahasu Yuvak Sanskritik Mandal, Kedi Kupvi, Jayeshwari Cultural Group, Theog, Koteshwari Cultural Group, Theog, Dharohar Dance Group, and members of various fun activity teams featuring popular character mascots such as Gorilla, Panda, and Teddy Bear were also honoured.
Addressing the gathering, Anupam Kashyap, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, and Chairman of the International Shimla Summer Festival Organizing Committee, said that the artists played a pivotal role in transforming the festival into a memorable cultural celebration. He noted that their performances not only entertained local residents but also captivated tourists, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere throughout the event.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of the district administration and conveyed hope that the visiting artists would return to their respective states carrying fond memories of Shimla and the festival. He added that the success and popularity of this year’s Summer Festival were largely attributed to the dedication and talent of the participating performers.
The Deputy Commissioner presented Certificates of Appreciation and mementoes to all participating cultural groups in recognition of their contributions.
In a separate felicitation segment, members of the Himachal Pradesh Police Brass Band, Bharari, and the Himachal Pradesh Home Guards Band, Second Battalion, were honoured for their outstanding musical performances during the festival.
Commending their efforts, Anupam Kashyap said that police and home guard personnel not only perform their duties in maintaining law and order but also showcase exceptional talent in music and cultural activities. He congratulated both bands for their impressive performances and contribution to the festival’s success.
The Deputy Commissioner also honoured members of the Eklavya Mallakhamb Team, Delhi, by presenting them with Certificates of Appreciation and commemorative mementoes. Appreciating their performances, he highlighted the importance of sports and traditional physical disciplines in keeping youth engaged in healthy activities and away from substance abuse.
He observed that Mallakhamb, with its unique blend of physical strength, balance, discipline, and mental focus, plays a significant role in the holistic development of young people. He thanked the team for participating in the festival and expressed confidence that they would continue inspiring youth to adopt healthy lifestyles through sports and fitness.
The ceremony was attended by Gaurav Singh, Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Jyoti Rana, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol), Sarojna Narwal, District Language Officer, Hemant Jokta, Assistant Financial Controller, and other senior officials.
The felicitation ceremony served as a fitting conclusion to the International Shimla Summer Festival 2026, celebrating the artists and performers who helped make the event a memorable cultural showcase for residents and visitors alike.
