CM Sukhu attended the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Panchayat Pradhans and Up-Pradhans held at Peterhoff Hotel in Shimla on Monday. On the occasion, he also administered the Anti-Chitta pledge to the elected representatives and urged them to actively contribute towards making Panchayats drug-free.

The Chief Minister called upon Panchayat representatives to work collectively towards the goal of establishing Chitta-free Panchayats and building a drug-free society. He stressed that elected representatives play a crucial role in grassroots governance as a vital link between the government and the people.

Congratulating the newly elected representatives, Sukhu expressed hope that they would work with dedication for development, public welfare, and effective implementation of government schemes and services at the grassroots level. He also urged them to ensure that the benefits of welfare programmes reach every eligible beneficiary in rural areas.

Highlighting the importance of youth engagement, the Chief Minister appealed to Panchayat representatives to promote sports, education, cultural activities, and other constructive initiatives in their respective areas. He said such efforts would help channelise the energy of youth in a positive direction and keep them away from the menace of drug abuse.

He said the state government has launched several ambitious initiatives and welfare programmes aimed at holistic development and welfare of all sections of society, which are showing encouraging results. He added that the government is focusing on strengthening the rural economy and key sectors such as green Himachal, quality education, healthcare, employment generation, financial discipline, drug de-addiction, and employee welfare.

On the occasion, Education Minister Rohit Thakur administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected Panchayat Pradhans and Up-Pradhans of the district.
