In a major blow to an interstate drug network, the Sirmaur Police and the Special Task Force (STF) have seized assets worth ₹4.41 crore linked to alleged drug trafficker Mahmood Ali and his syndicate.

The seized properties include 12 vehicles, a truck, and three houses. Officials said the case has been forwarded to the competent authority in New Delhi for further proceedings under the NDPS Act.

A financial probe revealed that Mahmood Ali, along with family members and associates, allegedly amassed wealth through the trafficking of opium, poppy husk, and other narcotic substances. While the group’s legitimate income over the last six years stood at just ₹72.58 lakh, the value of assets acquired exceeded ₹4.41 crore.

Investigators also found that shell firms, including M/s Bulbul Transport Company and M/s Bulbul Fruit Supplier, were allegedly used to launder drug money and conceal illegal activities.

Multiple NDPS cases have been registered against Mahmood Ali and his associates in Himachal Pradesh and other states. The main accused is currently lodged in the Modern Central Jail, Nahan, under the PIT-NDPS Act.

Police have urged citizens to share information related to drugs through the 112 helpline or their nearest police station, assuring complete confidentiality of informants.

The action is part of the ongoing “Chitta-Free Himachal” campaign being spearheaded by the STF and district police to curb the drug menace across the state.
