A state-level review meeting on the implementation of the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB): Catch the Rain-2026 campaign was held today, with senior officials of the Jal Shakti Vibhag and representatives of various departments participating through physical and virtual modes.

Chairing the meeting, Principal Secretary (Jal Shakti) and State Nodal Officer for the campaign, Dr. Abhishek Jain, stressed the need to transform water conservation into a people-driven movement. He directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure active involvement of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies, educational institutions, Self-Help Groups, Mahila Mandals, Yuva Clubs, NGOs and other community organisations to strengthen public participation.

Dr. Jain emphasised effective coordination of the campaign with major schemes including VB-G RAM G, Jal Jeevan Mission, PMKSY, AMRUT, CAMPA and Swachh Bharat Mission to enhance the impact of water conservation initiatives.

He highlighted the importance of restoring and optimising existing water conservation assets, including traditional water harvesting systems such as baoris, khatris, kuls, pokhars and other local water bodies. He also directed officials to undertake need-based village-level projects for water conservation and groundwater recharge with active participation from Gram Panchayats and local communities.

The Principal Secretary stressed proper documentation, geo-tagging and timely uploading of all works on the JSJB Portal to ensure transparent monitoring. He also directed every district to prepare a dedicated plan of water conservation works under VB-G RAM G for long-term rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge efforts.

The meeting reviewed the progress of the month-long nationwide Catch the Rain-2026 campaign (4 July–4 August 2026), including district-wise targets, implementation status, convergence with government schemes and the progress of geo-tagging of completed works.

It was also decided that the Jal Shakti Vibhag would provide technical guidance and support to departments involved in planning and executing scientifically designed water conservation and groundwater recharge structures.
