Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri attended the valedictory session of the two-day National Departmental Water Security Summit in New Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hosted by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti. The high-level conference convened key policymakers to address national water security, conservation strategies, drinking water infrastructure, and the deployment of advanced technology in resource management.

Addressing the summit, Agnihotri highlighted water conservation as an urgent national priority, placing special emphasis on the unique environmental realities of mountainous regions. He underscored that for a hilly state like Himachal Pradesh, protecting natural aquatic ecosystems, fortifying rural drinking water networks, and adopting scientific management practices are critical to ensuring long-term sustainability.

Advocating for a community-driven model, the Deputy Chief Minister called for transforming water conservation into a mass public movement. He emphasized that seamless inter-state coordination, active best-practice sharing, and stronger federal partnerships are key to overcoming emerging sector-wide bottlenecks. Pointing to the growing threats of climate change and shifting weather patterns, Agnihotri urged the adoption of climate-resilient planning and modern technologies to secure the state’s natural water heritage.
