In a major nationwide effort to combat child exploitation, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) successfully rescued over 3,800 children from illegal child labor between June 12 and August 31. The statutory body under the Ministry of Women and Child Development coordinated with state governments, police forces, district magistrates, and labor departments to conduct targeted rescue operations across high-risk hotspots.

The pan-India campaign focused on identifying, rescuing, and rehabilitating vulnerable children exposed to child labor, human trafficking, and exploitation. To ensure accountability, the NCPCR directed states and Union Territories to track operational progress, register criminal cases against offenders, provide monetary compensation, and mainstream rescued children back into formal education.

Throughout the drive, the commission conducted review sessions with district officials to address operational bottlenecks, mandate timely Action Taken Reports (ATRs), and streamline cross-departmental coordination. Social media and outreach platforms were also deployed to raise public awareness about child labor reporting mechanisms.

As a result of these sustained inter-agency efforts, authorities registered over 575 FIRs against violators while securing the release of more than 3,800 children, paving the way for their formal rehabilitation and schooling.
