The 89th edition of the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ campaign was spearheaded by Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi in Surat. Centered around the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat,” the event brought together students, athletes, and citizens to advocate for an active, drug-free lifestyle. During the event, key leaders and participants administered a pledge against substance abuse, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a healthier, drug-free nation.
The Surat rally kicked off at the Sardar Patel Statue in Mangadh Chowk with warm-up sessions including yoga and zumba before moving towards Sarthana Zoo. Addressing the crowd, Dr. Mandaviya underscored the role of daily cycling in boosting personal health, reducing environmental pollution, and saving fuel. Demonstrating massive nationwide momentum, the 89th edition saw over 5 million participants across 25,000+ locations, supported by prominent sports figures including Achanta Sharath Kamal, Sarita Mor, and Harmeet Desai.
Simultaneously, the New Delhi edition took place at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium with a special Teachers’ Day focus, honoring coaches and educators for their pivotal role in youth development. Attended by nearly 1,000 participants and prominent fitness ambassadors, the event further reinforced the dual message of health awareness and appreciation for mentors.
