To prevent disruption to public financial services during an upcoming three-day nationwide bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) from September 28 to 30, the government has directed banks to function on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
Following approval from the Reserve Bank of India, all branches, offices, ATM-linked outlets, and currency chests of Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will remain fully operational on the weekend. The Ministry emphasized that customer convenience remains the top priority, assuring the public that essential banking operations will continue uninterrupted while discussions with union leaders to defer the strike remain ongoing.
