CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), alongside Bharat Tiki Tar Shell India Private Limited (BTS), convened the Indian Airport Pavement Symposium (IAPS 2026) at its New Delhi auditorium under the theme “Advancing Performance-Based Airport Pavements for a Resilient and Sustainable Aviation Future.” The symposium brought together industry regulators, airport operators, defense officials, and pavement researchers to formulate a strategic technical roadmap for India’s growing aviation sector. The conference was formally inaugurated by Dr. (Mrs.) N. Kalaiselvi, DG CSIR and Secretary DSIR, who called for robust indigenous R&D and strategic partnerships to strengthen transit infrastructure.
During the event, Guest of Honour Manoj Menon, Executive Director of BPCL, shared insights on industry-led material advances, while CSIR-CRRI Director Dr. Ch. Ravi Sekhar outlined the institute’s contributions to pavement engineering, safety standards, and sustainable asset management. Opening and concluding remarks were delivered by Dr. Ashish Walia and Dr. K. Ravinder, respectively. Marking a significant collaborative landmark, CSIR-CRRI and BTS formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the symposium to co-develop advanced modified bituminous binders and tailored airport pavement technologies.
