SHEMROCK Smartkids enticed and mesmerized all the parents and guests present to watch the MEGASHOWCASE – 2014, which was full of fun, entertainment and enjoyment, here today at Gaiety Theatre, Shimla. Director-Principal Auckland House School, Sunita John presided over the function as the chief guest, who was warmly welcomed by Shemrock School Director Sheetaljit Kaur and Principal Guneet Kaur. The event soon began with the lighting of the lamp and a prayer by the tiny tots invoking the blessing of the god for the success of their show. What followed next was sheer cuteness, charisma and hard work put in by SHEMROCK Smarties.
Adopting the theme of expression of love and affection, the “Shem Express” articulated their love towards Almighty, parents, nature and everyone else around them. Principal Kaur introduced the concept of the programme and said, “We must not look for perfection since our little birds have just discovered their wings and have a long way to go before they are able to fly as high as they can in a carefree sky of childhood. Each child’s role whether big or small is equally important producing each performance and it is commendable to have 100 per cent participation which indicates that all children will get an opportunity to showcase their talents on the big stage, in front of such a big audience”. She further added that the purpose of the program is to impart good presentation skills to our children with a view to make them stage confident. She hoped that their efforts and through the co-operation of the parents they would be able to achieve higher goals. She concluded on the note “Looking back, ladies and gentlemen, I wonder how quickly time flies. It seems just like yesterday when these little children had entered SHEMROCK clinging to their mothers, hesitant of stepping away from home. Then days became weeks, months and before we know it, another year is passing by, leaving us in the midst of the most wonderful memories. I hope these memories will stay with you and your little one forever”.
The Shem Express began with Sarawati Vandana, as the girls took the stage and gave a very pious presentation. Himangi, Anamya, Avni, Sonali, Yuvashri and Suhana all together set the mood for the what lay next. The highlight of the event was the sweet performances by kids as they recited poems and songs midst each item to entertain the guests. Tamanna Sharma expressed her love for her parents by reciting the poem “Mumma, Papa I Am a Little Tea Pot”. It was then time for the team of Chhota Bheem — Priyansh, Arnav, Rishika, Arnavarya, Kristin, Ashwath, Ananya, Divanshi, Uday, Sparsh, Divesha, Arshiya, Vedant, Tejas and Jasmine — to entertain the audience as they danced on different theme song from the Chhota Bheem animations.
Anamya, Sajel, Purvi, Tejasvini, Anahat, Svara and Ajooni gave a thrilling dance performance on a Gujrati song ‘Nagada’. Annika, Adhiraj, Yayin, Vivyana, Vaibhav, Aryan, Ayan and Avani presented the beautiful Himachali Naati as they danced to the tune of ‘Rorhu Jana Meri Ameyo Par’. Paying homage to our freedom fighters while spreading the message ‘Anekta Main Ekta’, Parikarma, Avni, Aadhaya, Rabani, Kavya, Tamana, Naysa, Saanvi, Tridhmann, Shanvi, Manas, Saaransh, Armaan, Anik and Yug beautifully expressed their love for the country.
A special treat and to keep the rhythm on, the girls who worked very hard to learn Kathak at this tender age — Zoel, Svara, Tajesvini, Yayin, Akshra, Purvi, Anahat — elegantly gave a Kathak performance, thus receiving a huge applause from all present. The school has appointed special staff for their students to learn classical dance in order to nurture young minds with one’s heritage.
With a small break in the programme the Principal read the school report and informed everyone about the inception of the school a year ago, various activities undertaken during this period and the interactive sessions held with both the parents and kids about the progress made. She further added that through this annual function they try make the kids Stage Smart and build their confidence to perform in front of a huge audience. It was then followed by the prize distribution and an inspiring speech by the Chief Guest. Mrs John said, that it was a pleasant change from her daily routine and was mesmerized to see such young children perform so beautifully. “I am especially impressed by the Kathak performance given by the girls and the hard work put in by the school management and the teachers was very much evident and is quite commendable”.
The grand finale was a vibrant dance performance by the kids on the song ‘Rock the Dance Floor’ by Prithvi, Raghav, Sonali, Yuvashri, Zoel, Swaksha, Sanidhya and Harshit !!!
