Bharti Kuthiala presents “Gaiety Ke Rangchar” book to Governor

Member, Film Certification Board and Vice President of ‘Himcine Society Ek Soch’ Bharti Kuthiala, called on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan and presented her book “Gaiety Ke Rangchar” to the Governor.

The Governor lauded Kuthiala for her efforts. He said that Gaiety Theatre reflects the State’s cultural heritage and has earned notable recognition for its plays. “Art is a powerful medium of expression and this book would be valuable for both artists and general readers,” said Shukla.

On the occasion, Kuthiala apprised the Governor that the book was a document of the historical journey of Gaiety Theatre, with sections including editorial comments, actor memoirs and scholarly articles on aspects of theatre like lighting and stagecraft.

During the interaction, the actors apprised the Governor that under the National Education Policy, it has been decided to teach the subject of drama in schools. It was necessary to start a postgraduate course in drama in the State so that trained drama teachers could study from the department and theatre art to be promoted, they urged.

Senior theatre personalities including Jawahar Kaul, former Director of Information & Public Relations Aarti Gupta and Devendra Sharma were also present on the occasion.
