A meeting organized by the Society for Promoting Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) took place at St. Thomas School, Shimla, under the chairmanship of Siddharth Banerjee.
The primary goal of this gathering was to connect the youth with India’s rich cultural heritage, focusing on Indian classical music, women’s dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts, and other intangible cultural aspects.
Objectives of the SPIC MACAY Meeting
The meeting emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Indian culture among the youth, particularly those struggling with drug addiction or seeking direction in life. SPIC MACAY aims to inspire young minds by engaging them in activities that celebrate the country’s artistic and spiritual traditions.
Role of St. Thomas School in SPIC MACAY Initiatives
Principal Vidhu Priya Chakraborty of St. Thomas School was urged to raise awareness among Shimla’s students about the organization’s activities and to host similar events throughout the region. The school will continue to host these meetings every Saturday from 4 PM to 5 PM, ensuring the smooth progression of SPIC MACAY’s initiatives.
Support from SPIC MACAY’s Founder and Leaders
The meeting also saw the participation of SPIC MACAY’s founder, Padmashree Dr. Kiran Seth, who handed over the reins of the organization’s activities in Shimla. Other key participants included school staff and volunteers dedicated to the cause.
Engagement with State Leadership
Members of SPIC MACAY, including Dr. Kiran Seth, also met with the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, to discuss the organization’s future plans and seek their support in expanding its reach within the state.
