The State Rural Development Department has partnered with the Healing Himalayas Foundation to improve waste management systems in rural and eco-sensitive regions across Himachal Pradesh. This collaboration seeks to foster sustainable practices such as waste segregation, recycling, and eco-friendly disposal, benefiting both communities and the environment.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Rural Development Department and Healing Himalayas Foundation, a well-regarded NGO dedicated to environmental conservation in the Himalayan region.

Rural Development Director Raghav Sharma emphasized that this partnership reflects the government’s commitment to tackling waste management challenges in rural areas. He highlighted the initiative’s goal of developing a sustainable and scalable model that aligns with community and environmental needs.

Pradeep Sangwan, President of Healing Himalayas Foundation, expressed gratitude for the collaboration. He reiterated the foundation’s dedication to preserving the fragile Himalayan ecosystem and its mission to promote responsible waste management and empower communities to embrace eco-friendly practices.

This initiative is a pivotal step in advancing Himachal Pradesh’s broader objectives of sustainable rural development and environmental conservation. By leveraging the combined efforts of the government and a skilled NGO, the state aims to establish a model for rural waste management that can inspire similar efforts in other regions.
