Auckland House School for Boys conducted a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training session for teachers and students, reinforcing its commitment to fostering a safe and responsive learning environment. The initiative focused on equipping participants with vital life-saving skills and practical knowledge to effectively manage medical emergencies within the school premises.

The training was led by Anuradha, Head of Programs, with the support of Priyanka and  Shweta, who guided attendees through detailed demonstrations and hands-on practice. Emphasising experiential learning over theory alone, the workshop incorporated real-life simulations designed to build confidence, improve awareness, and strengthen quick decision-making abilities during emergencies.

The session covered several critical aspects of emergency response, including immediate care in cases of fainting, identifying when CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is required, step-by-step CPR practice, fracture management before professional medical assistance arrives, techniques to control external bleeding, safe handling of impaled objects, response protocols in cases of amputation, proper management of nosebleeds, recognising signs of internal injuries, and effective action during choking incidents.

Teachers and students actively participated in scenario-based exercises, ensuring a thorough understanding of both theoretical principles and their real-world application.

Addressing the gathering, Anuradha noted that this was the first initiative of its kind at the school, implemented under a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening the institution’s safety framework. She highlighted the importance of empowering educators and students with practical emergency response skills to promote overall well-being and preparedness.

Reuben John, Principal of the school, commended the initiative, stating that education extends beyond academics to include awareness, resilience, and essential life skills. He emphasised that such training reflects the institution’s dedication to holistic education and responsible community engagement.

Through initiatives like this, the school continues to integrate safety awareness and practical competencies into its academic framework, reaffirming its belief that meaningful education prepares students not just for examinations, but for real-life challenges.
