CM Advocates Region-Specific Crop Diversification

CM on Monday said the state government is focused on strengthening Himachal Pradesh’s rural economy by increasing farmers’ incomes and promoting natural farming through minimum support prices for chemical-free agricultural produce.

Chairing a review meeting of the Tribal Development and Horticulture Departments, he directed officials to fill vacant posts in the Horticulture Department and ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes. Reviewing the HPSHIVA project, he emphasized fruit crop diversification based on regional climatic conditions and called for greater technical support to horticulturists.

The Chief Minister also reviewed Tribal Development Department schemes and directed officials to expedite their implementation. He said that from March 2023 to March 2026, 636 individual and 20 community claims under the Forest Rights Act, 2006 were sanctioned, with 2,259.24 hectares of land transferred to beneficiaries.

Reviewing Eklavya Model Residential Schools at Nichar, Pangi, Bharmour and Lahaul, Sukhu directed authorities to provide quality facilities to students. A total of 1,013 students are currently enrolled in these schools.
