CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting of the Health Department, directing officials to explore the establishment of an integrated Mother and Child Hospital at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.
He instructed the formation of a committee under Secretary Ashish Singhmar to identify suitable space within the IGMC campus for the proposed facility, aimed at delivering comprehensive, world-class healthcare services under one roof.
The Chief Minister also called for concrete suggestions to achieve zero waiting time for diagnostic services in medical colleges. He emphasized that the state is investing in advanced medical equipment and strengthening staff capacity to improve patient care within Himachal Pradesh.
Highlighting the importance of diagnostics, he noted that upgrading these services is essential for accurate disease detection and effective treatment. He added that the government is actively filling vacancies across medical, paramedical, and technical positions in healthcare institutions.
Reiterating the government’s focus, Sukhu said that health and education remain top priorities, with sufficient financial resources being allocated to drive major reforms and enhance service delivery across the state.
