CM Sukhu reviewed the progress of the Sabzi Mandi Central Business District (CBD) Project in Shimla and the proposed City Centre Project in Hamirpur during a meeting of the Urban Development Department.
The Chief Minister said the projects aim to decongest urban areas and create modern commercial hubs with smart parking and public spaces. He directed officials to expedite execution and complete tendering within the set timelines. The Sabzi Mandi CBD Project in Shimla will be developed in two phases at a cost of Rs 330 crore. Around Rs 210 crore will be spent in the first phase, out of which Rs 160 crore has already been released to the Municipal Corporation Shimla and the PWD.
The Chief Minister directed authorities to vacate residential units, offices and shops at the project site within the given deadlines so demolition and site clearance can be completed by July 11, 2026. He also asked officials to complete the tendering process by August 2026. Reviewing the proposed Rs 140 crore City Centre Project in Hamirpur, the Chief Minister said it would be developed after the old bus stand is dismantled, as the new bus stand is nearing completion.
He said Rs 80 crore has already been approved, while the remaining amount will be arranged through the PPP model. The DPR for the project has also been prepared. The Chief Minister directed HRTC to issue notices for vacating the premises and asked the PWD to begin the tendering process within one month after site clearance.
