CM Sukhu today flagged off three mobile resource centre vehicles under the ‘Therapy on Wheels’ initiative of Samagra Shiksha, marking a major step forward in strengthening inclusive education across Himachal Pradesh. Implemented in partnership with the Samphia Foundation, the project is designed to bring specialized therapy, rehabilitation, and special education directly to children with special needs (CwSN) and their families, particularly those residing in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
The initiative directly addresses the mobility and accessibility challenges posed by the state’s rugged, difficult terrain. To bridge this gap, each mobile resource center functions as a multidisciplinary clinic offering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, screening, counselling, and functional independence training, along with regular follow-ups and referral services.
Initially launching across Mandi, Shimla, and Kangra districts, the state plans to scale the mobile resource centers to cover all districts over time. Beyond direct care, ‘Therapy on Wheels’ focuses on early screening, parental guidance, and training educators—ensuring specially-abled children achieve higher classroom participation, improved communication, and greater independence.
