Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari has called for a statewide Jan Andolan against chitta, urging students, parents, and local communities to join the fight against drug abuse. Speaking at DAV Senior Secondary Public School, the DGP emphasized that making Himachal Pradesh drug-free requires collective action from police, schools, families, and society.
To channel youth energy constructively, he urged students to choose sports over drugs through the ‘Khelo Himachal – Chitta Mukt Himachal’ initiative, which will organize kabaddi, cricket, and volleyball tournaments across block, district, and state levels.
DGP Tiwari encouraged students to treat police officers as friends and guides. Highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s rise from 34th to 1st rank nationally in the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112), he asked every student to spread awareness about the helpline to at least five people.
Calling on parents, teachers, and panchayats to stay vigilant, the DGP concluded by administering an anti-drug pledge to students, inspiring them to obey the law and work toward a Chitta Mukt Himachal.
