In a key step toward public accountability, Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj C. Paulrasu launched the official website of the Himachal Pradesh State Social Audit Unit (HPSSAU) today, opening up government audit records directly to citizens.
Designed as a single-window portal, the website provides real-time access to social audit schedules, field reports, compliance updates, official notifications, and departmental publications. By laying bare the audit process, the platform aims to bridge the gap between rural communities, elected representatives, and administration—making public welfare monitoring far more participative and accessible.
Legally mandated by the Ministry of Rural Development, the HPSSAU operates as an independent body responsible for auditing major flagship welfare initiatives. Beyond Mahatma Gandhi NREGA and VB-G RAM G, the unit oversees social audits for the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), PM Poshan, and several social justice welfare schemes across the state.
