We often celebrate Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day and Rose Day with much fervour and passion but rarely remember to honour our DADS who equally participate in each and every step of their child’s development. Today Principal, Ravine Singh, Euro Kids, New Shimla, hosted a special programme for fathers as they all together celebrated Father’s Day. Enlightening fathers about the days’ importance and the role they play in their kids growth Principal Singh said, “Fathers put in equal amount of effort. We wish to honour you all and pay a tribute for your indispensible role in upbringing of your children. I would like to congratulate you all on being such super fathers and thrilled to see the level of participation”. She added that with the help of her teachers, the kids had prepared a small entertainment programme for them.
The event began with a sweet little poem by Sanvi Chauhan as she sung “Daddy I love you for all you do”, dedicated to fathers, which was followed by a vibrant dance display by kids on the song “Bum bum bole, masti main tu dol re”. After this was another solo recital by Bhavya who sung “Mere papa, pyare papa”. The next performance by the tiny tots was “All is well”, which was well appreciated by all fathers present. Kids participating in the event were Arya, Ahana, Elina, Rashika, Akarsh, Suhana, Dikshant, Mehal, Adrit, Dhruvika, Saina, Aarav, and Sachael among others. The cheerful expression on the fathers’ faces was a clear sign how they really enjoyed the show with their kids performances after missing an office day. A pleasant change for all as they voiced in unison that they felt special today.
The next activity for fathers was a creativity competition. They were given the task of making something creative with their kids, and sure they surprised many by making few remarkable items. Surinder Maithan made a cute little family collage with his son Atiksh, while father daugther duo Akarsh Saini-Ishiya made a photo frame in a box. Ajay Chauhan, father of Akash made colourful ice cream cones with sparkles and Luv Shandil with his son Parth made origami flowers. Arpan Sharma with his daughter Aarna made a very pretty farmhouse with play dough. There were quite a few paintings adorning the display table as well. The most touching was a photo frame with a new born photo of Sachael Kaur (Emmy) in scripted with a poem by her father Inderpreet Singh after experiencing the day of her birth.

Fathers were an extremely happy lot as they spent a carefree day with their children in school. Arpan Sood, father of Arya said, “It is a great thing to have something like this in Shimla and I feel privileged to be a part of such celebrations. As a father, family comes first to me and everything else is secondary. I am enjoying my day off with my kid”. Jatinder Bhardwaj, father of Rashika said that such activities leave a good impression of kids and they become aware of such special days. It makes me feel proud. Dr Sudhir Sharma, who took a day off from his medical profession was all about encouraging his daughter Bhavya as he said, “It is good to interact with kids at school and the teachers at such an informal level. I really liked the performance and am happy to see the way my child is learning so many new things in the school.
The day ended with refreshments and eager fathers to know the results of the creativity competition which would be announced after a few days.

“My Daddy’s First Father’s Day” by Lindsay H
You held my tiny hand when I first arrived.
You were there when I first opened my eyes.
You’ve calmed my fears,
and kissed my ears.
You held me close all night when I cried,
It let me know all would be right.
You’ve taught me new things daily,
Like how to love and cherish our family.
I love the time we spend together,
It lets me know, anything we can weather.
You make me giggle when you stick out your tongue.
These special moments in my memory can’t be undone.
I wave bye bye with a smile,
Because I know you’ll never be gone awhile.
Someday when I’m a little older,
My burdens you will shoulder.
You’ll guide me through life,
as a child, teenager, and eventually as someone’s wife.
But you’ll always be number one in my heart.
How could anyone live up to your mark?
As I grow I hope you’ll always know
how much I love you.
I promise to always call you Daddy.
