“A child is an uncut diamond” — a very touching quote by Austin O’Malley. School is a place where a child’s future is shaped. Not only studies but extracurricular activities play an important role in the child’s personality as well as over all development. Tiny tots of Orchid Prep School, New Shimla, celebrated Christmas on the last day of the school session. School Principal Neelam Vij said, “We always plan Christmas celebrations on the last day with a small party for both children and parents. It is our way of saying thanks to the parents and bidding adieu until the next session begins in March. Students of both the schools, Orchid Prep and Arushi are part of the festivities”.
The little ones were dressed in colorful frilly dresses and smart coat / pants, all set to spellbound everyone present here today. The event began with the opening of a draw in which Adheera from nursery and Sunita Katoch among teachers were chosen as Santa Clause. Celebrations started with the One Leg Race in which Kushwant, Shradha and Roheen stood first, second and third respectively. It was then followed by the Frog Race in which Naveet stood first, Shradha was second and Roheen was third. Entertainment was at its full with children taking part in different events enthusiastically. Now it was turn for the Back Race. In this race children were to walk backwards. Though a difficult one for little kids but still Aaratrika bagged the first position in this challenging event amidst loud claps and applauses, Aarav stood second, while Nilaxx was third. In Musical Chairs, prizes were given to Naveet and Khushwat.
Now it was time for some fun and dance as children gave foot tapping performances on various Bollywood numbers. The highlight of the day was Modelling by the tiny tots. Dressed in colorful clothes it was fun watching the little angels — Annaya, Roheen, Adhira, Khushwant, Naveet, Shradha, Shashwat, Aarv, Anvi, Kamya, Naveen, Nilap, Annya, Vivan and Aranav — walk across the hall with full confidence and style.
Parents were very happy to see their children participating in different events. They were full of praise for the school management and the faculty members whose hard work and dedication was clearly visible in the children’s performances. Kamya’s mother said, “It is so difficult to handle small children and making them participate in so many events, the teachers here are doing an amazing job with our kids. Shradha’s mother said, “Participation with such zeal and passion was quite thrilling to see, I am very satisfied that my daughter is learning so much here”. Aaratrika’s mother adds, “My daughter is enjoying so much here. She is participating with full confidence and enthusiasm. I am happy that the school celebrates all our festivals through which children learn so many new things at such tender age. These types of events also make our children confident and social. Anjali, another parent voiced, “Children are so energetic as they have performed beautifully, totally enjoying themselves”. Arnav’s mother said, “I saw my little son dance so well on different songs. It was very enjoyable. Children do learn a lot from school. I am amazed how nicely he is taking part in all the events as otherwise he is a shy boy.
The celebrations ended on a happy note with all, children, teachers and parents dancing on Bollywood numbers and Principal Vij distributed sweets and gifts to all the little ones !!!
