Ahead of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections in Himachal Pradesh, Governor Kavinder Gupta on Friday urged citizens to participate actively in the democratic process by exercising their franchise responsibly.
With campaigning for the civic polls ending today, voting will be held on May 17 for the Municipal Corporations of Dharamsala, Solan, Mandi and Palampur, besides several municipal councils and nagar panchayats across the state.
In his message, the Governor said ULB elections are vital for strengthening local self-governance and improving civic infrastructure and development in urban areas. He appealed to voters to cast their votes peacefully and uphold the spirit of fair and disciplined elections.
Making a special appeal to first-time voters and youth, Gupta said participating in the electoral process for the first time is both a matter of pride and responsibility. He encouraged young voters to contribute actively towards shaping the future of their cities and the state through informed voting.
