Governor plants saplings on World Environment Day

Shimla: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla planted saplings in the Raj Bhawan premises, by giving the message of environmental protection. He planted Deodar and Poplar saplings. On the occasion, Raj Bhawan staff and employees of the H.P. State Red Cross Society also planted saplings.

In his message, the Governor said that everyone has the responsibility to plant saplings for environmental protection. He expressed concern that heat waves were being faced by the citizens of Shimla hill station for the last several days. He also advised the authorities to take appropriate action to prevent forest fires.

He said that proper arrangements are made for plantation during monsoon but targets should be set for the concerned departments to ensure maximum plantation and their vitality. Every person should plant saplings in memory of the departed soul of his family member, he added.

Rajesh Sharma, Secretary to the Governor was also present on the occasion.
