The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched JANANI (Journey of Antenatal, Natal and Neonatal Integrated Care) at the National Summit on Innovation and Inclusivity, marking a major step towards digital transformation in maternal and child healthcare. The upgraded platform, developed from the RCH portal, creates continuous digital health records for women across pregnancy, childbirth, and early childcare. It enables real-time tracking of services including antenatal care, delivery, postnatal care, newborn care, and family planning.

JANANI features QR-enabled digital Mother and Child Health (MCH) cards, automated high-risk pregnancy alerts, real-time dashboards, and due-list tracking to ensure timely interventions. It also integrates with national systems like U-WIN and POSHAN for seamless data sharing and coordination. The platform supports beneficiary registration through ABHA, Aadhaar, and mobile numbers, ensuring continuity of care even for migrant populations, along with self-registration options for citizens.

It also provides reminders for check-ups and immunisation, access to nearby health facilities, and health and nutrition guidance to improve maternal and child outcomes. So far, JANANI has recorded 1.34 crore registrations, 30 lakh+ pregnant women onboarded, 30 lakh+ MCH cards issued, and over 1 lakh biometric verifications. The Ministry said JANANI represents a major reform in healthcare delivery, strengthening accessibility, accountability, and quality through digital innovation.
