Demonstrating prompt administrative action on student feedback, the Himachal Pradesh Government has sanctioned ₹2 crore for the construction of a new building at the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) in Rohru, Shimla district. The Planning Department has formally issued approval to the Public Works Department (PWD) to begin preliminary construction work.
The immediate release of funds fulfills a commitment made by CM Sukhu during his two-day visit to the Rohru Assembly Constituency on October 1. The decision was prompted by a direct interaction at the Rohru CBSE School, where a student brought key infrastructure bottlenecks to the Chief Minister’s attention.
Highlighting campus challenges, the student explained that enrollment had surged significantly following the school’s affiliation with the CBSE board. To accommodate the growing student body, the school administration was considering a double-shift system starting next academic session. However, due to limited rural bus transport schedules, nearly half the students would face severe commute hardships, potentially forcing many to transfer to other institutions.
Acknowledging these difficulties, Chief Minister Sukhu reaffirmed his rural background and deep understanding of grassroots educational challenges. He noted that while ₹2 crore serves as an initial installment to commence construction, additional budget allocations will be released in phases to build a modern, fully-equipped campus for Rohru’s students.
Local MLA Mohan Lal Brakta expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhu for honoring his promise promptly and accelerating regional development initiatives. He emphasized that the state government’s proactive approach continues to drive infrastructure transformation across the Rohru constituency.
