Himachal Pradesh Implements New Education Administration Structure

The Government of Himachal Pradesh has announced a major restructuring of the Education Directorates, streamlining the administration for better efficiency and governance. As per the latest government notification, the Education Department will now operate under two key directorates:

  1. Directorate of School Education
  2. Directorate of Higher Education

Key Changes in Himachal Pradesh’s Education Directorate

  • The Directorate of Elementary Education has been restructured and renamed as the Directorate of School Education.
  • The Directorate of School Education will now oversee all matters related to Bal Vatika to Class 12 (+2 level).
  • The Directorate of Higher Education will continue handling college and university-level education.
  • The new structure aims to enhance policy implementation, streamline administration, and improve educational outcomes across the state.

Immediate Implementation of the New Structure

The notification, issued by Rakesh Kanwar, IAS, Secretary (Education), Himachal Pradesh, confirms that this restructuring comes into force with immediate effect. Official communication has been sent to key state authorities, including the Governor, Chief Minister, and Education Minister.
