The first phase of Census 2027, titled the House Listing and Housing Census, will commence across Himachal Pradesh from 16 June 2026 and continue till 15 July 2026.
A spokesperson of the Directorate of Census Operations, Himachal Pradesh said that training of all enumerators and supervisors has been successfully completed in all districts, ensuring readiness for the nationwide exercise. This year’s census will be conducted in a fully digital mode, with enumerators using the HLO Mobile App for data collection.
He informed that citizens who are unable to complete self-enumeration through the online portal will be covered through door-to-door visits during the census period. Enumerators will collect information based on 33 prescribed questions covering housing conditions, household composition, access to basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity, sanitation, food grains, and availability of household assets.
For public safety, residents can verify the identity of enumerators by scanning the QR code on their official identity cards. The spokesperson clarified that no bank details, OTPs, or financial documents will be asked during the census process.
The Directorate has appealed to all residents of the state to extend full cooperation and actively participate in this important national exercise.
