The Himachal Pradesh Rugby Association successfully organized the State Under-18 Boys’ and Girls’ Rugby Selection Trials on Saturday at the historic Chaugan (Chaura) Maidan in Shimla.
Players from Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Kullu, Hamirpur, and Mandi districts participated with great enthusiasm. A total of 68 players, including 24 girls and 44 boys, took part in the selection trials and displayed their sporting skills.
The selection process was conducted in a fair manner under the supervision of association officials, including President Dr. Vikas Sood, General Secretary Vishal Sarin, Treasurer Sudhir Rajput, along with selectors Anisha, Sunil, and others.
The association announced that selected players will represent Himachal Pradesh in the National Under-18 Rugby Championship, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad from July 5 to July 10, 2026.
A state-level coaching camp for the selected players will begin on June 30, 2026, at Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district. Attendance at the camp has been made mandatory for all selected athletes to ensure proper preparation for the national event.
The association also thanked SJVN Limited for sponsoring the trials and supporting the growth of rugby in the state.
Officials congratulated all selected players and expressed confidence that the team will deliver a strong performance at the national championship and bring laurels to Himachal Pradesh.
