TRANSFER OF IAS OFFICERS

In a major administrative overhaul, the Governor of Himachal Pradesh has ordered the immediate transfer and posting of 17 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across the state. The sweeping changes, recommended by the Civil Services Board, aim to restructure leadership within several high-profile portfolios including Home, Finance, Transport, and Industries.

Under the new directives, Senior IAS officer Rawther Dawood Nazeem (1995 batch) has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary for Home & Vigilance, MPP & Power, and NCES. He relieves Kamlesh Kumar Pant and Rakesh Kanwar of their respective additional charges in these departments. Concurrently, Onkar Chand Sharma (1994 batch), who serves as the Additional Chief Secretary for Tribal Development, will now take on the additional responsibility of the Transport department.

The reshuffle also introduces significant adjustments at the Principal Secretary level. Devesh Kumar (1998 batch) will now focus on his role as Principal Secretary of Finance, Planning, Economics & Statistics, and the 20 Point Programme, while adding Animal Husbandry to his responsibilities and retaining PWD. Meanwhile,  M. Sudha Devi (2003 batch) has been transitioned to Principal Secretary for Forest and Industries, though she will continue overseeing the Personnel department.

Additionally, the state has realigned key directorates and municipal leadership. Dr. Yunus (2010 batch) steps in as the new Secretary for State Taxes & Excise, while Rakesh Kumar Prajapati (2012 batch) takes over as Director of Tourism & Civil Aviation. Several mid-career officers have also been assigned to head crucial state corporations and technical education divisions to optimize administrative efficiency.
