Lady Governor Distributes Aid at Shimla Rehab Centre

Lady Governor and Chairperson of the Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section, Bindu Gupta, visited the Himachal Hospital of Mental Health and Rehabilitation at Boileauganj near Shimla on Monday, where she met patients undergoing treatment and reviewed care facilities at the centre.

During her visit, she spent time interacting with patients, distributed fruits and sweets, and enquired about their health and recovery progress. She also inspected the overall services being provided at the rehabilitation facility.

Expressing satisfaction over the functioning of the institution, she said the Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Branch remains actively engaged in humanitarian service and regularly visits healthcare centres to support patients and vulnerable sections of society.

As part of her outreach initiative, she provided financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 each to three recovered patients through the State Red Cross Welfare Section. The beneficiaries, originally from Jharkhand and Bihar, were also given travel support to help them return safely to their home states after treatment. She emphasized that the Red Cross continues to stand firmly with those in need and is committed to extending timely assistance wherever required.

Later, Medical Superintendent Surekha Chopra briefed her on the functioning of the institution, treatment facilities, and patient care services. The Lady Governor also held discussions with the hospital staff and issued directions aimed at further improving rehabilitation and welfare support systems.
