Speech days are an integral part of any school’s circular and each school tries best to put up an excellent show. Students of Auckland House School for Boys, seized the moment as their celebrated their Junior Section Speech Day here today by delivering few great messages on gender equality, environment conservation, values of sharing, along with presenting a colourful rich culture of Himachal, Haryana and Punjab.

The day started with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest Prabha Rajeev, Additional District Magistrate (L & 0) Shimla, who was warmly greeted by the School Principal Micheal A John, Director Principal Auckland House School Sunita John and the staff members. The audience consisted of parents, visitors and prestigious members of the society, who were present to witness the mesmerizing display of talent showcased by the children on stage.

The programme began with a “Welcome Song” by students of Class I and II which was followed by an English play “The Stone Soup” – an European folk story in which hungry strangers convince the people of a town to each share a small amount of their food in order to make a meal that everyone enjoys, and exists as a moral regarding the value of sharing.

The message to save environment echoed loud and clear as the little ones performed on the song, “Save Trees” and a skit titled “Save Water”. A Himachali song was sung by Ridit Mahajan of UKG. The Hindi play “Nari Purush Ek Samaan” gave a beautiful message about equal and important role played by a man and a woman in a household.

Other entertaining songs consisted of “It’s a Beautiful Day”, “Haryanavi Dance”, “Gidda” and “Bhangra”. The children made their parents proud by bringing forth their hidden talents. (CLICK TO VIEW ALL VIDEOS)

A brief report of the school was presented by the school principal highlighting the achievements and activities of the students during the current academic year. The chief guest Prabha Rajeev congratulated the staff and students for the hard work put in by them in making the morning eventful.

Speaking on the occasion she said, “Children learn by observing things and behaviour around them so it is a responsibility of parents and adults to lead by example and not just expect them to become good human beings out of the blue”. She stressed on the fact that perception is the source of knowledge so we need to be careful what we expose our children to.

The programme came to an end with the distribution of prizes to meritorious students.
