“Creativity is intelligence having fun” – Albert Einstien’s quote perfectly sums up Keekli Book Club’s journey through this last year, as this month the member’s celebrated its one year anniversary. Though double celebrations were in order as June also marks the birthday of our club’s mentor Minakshi Chaudhary. A journey which would have not been possible without her unconditional support and love for children. The kids in turn have receiprocated by submitting few amazing stories, while learning the art of weaving words into beautiful parables, building characters and twisting the plot to leave the readers enticed.
Today’s session held at North Oak Public School, Sanjauli, was no different, as the kids were given a story plot to further write and elaborate upon. The little minds were at work, bringing their own narrative, by adding various elements to build on the subplot and the main story. The kids worked in small teams to discuss the course of their story, thereafter they all together exchanged their ideas to complete the plot.
The second part of the evening was reading a summary of any recent book they had read. The kids have now been assigned to write a brief in not more than 100 words. A task which can be tough for any normal being, but with all the training these kids have received, it has now become an easy task for them. With further guidance and help they surely will be ace readers and writers. (CLICK TO SEE ALL VIDEOS)
The day ended on a happy note as a cake was cut to mark the anniversary of the Book Club as well as Minakshi mam’s birthday, along with presenting her a small momento featuring the club member’s photos. A special thanks to Director-Principal NOPS, Namita Lal, for her unconditional support by housing the Keekli Book Library as well as providing the venue for our monthly meetings.
