Students of St Edwards School Senior Wing gathered to celebrate their Annual Function Mosaic – 2014 here today as they presented an energetic and thrilling programme to entice the audience despite cold weather and rain. School Principal Anil Sequeira greeted the chief guest DSP Mr Saumya who then hoisted the flag and took the Guard of Honour, which was then followed by the March Past by the respective Houses led by the School Captains Aditya Sood. The chief guest and the parents were warmly welcomed by the students with a prayer song and a welcome dance.
The School Band played a rocking number to set the mood, thus laying the tone for the evenings’ events. Next were the Yoga exercises, and the most impressive part was that the formation made by the students was in form the word ‘YOGA’. The emphasis here was that a healthy body is important and exercises show be done daily and be a part of our everyday lives.
Next in line was a Hindi play by the students of Class VIII, with a message that during the changing times the bond between the parents and children needs to be strengthened and they both should spend quality time with each other. In todays’ competitive world parents should listen to their children and should avoid burdening them with their own unfulfilled dreams. The message was clear that a loving and caring relationship should be the nurturing foundation of raising kids.
The importance of self defense was stressed by the students through a Karate display and a show of strength was seen as they broke marble tiles with their hand, elbow and head. At this point rain began to play a spoils sport but could not deter the spirit and enthusiasm of the students as they performed without a flinch. With heavy rain pouring the students of Class IX and XI stepped onto the field to give an amazing dance bonanza on a melody of Bollywood numbers, which ended with a tribute to the famous south Indian actor Rajnikanth. The agility and athletic spirit was witnessed during Gymnastics as students performed acrobatically to win hearts, the highlight being — passing through a ring of fire with utmost confidence.
The event concluded without the prize distribution as the downpour increased, but not after some very encouraging words from the chief guest. Mrs Saumya laid emphasis on the bond between the children and parents and said that children should listen to their parents as they always care and are committed towards their kids only. She also praised the performance of the children and the dedication and devotion towards making this day a success.
The prize distribution will now be held on Children’s Day !!!
