Union Minister of Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi has lauded the exceptional performance of India’s women athletes at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, where they played a pivotal role in the country’s medal-winning campaign by securing 8 of India’s 13 gold medals across boxing, weightlifting, judo and para athletics.
The Minister highlighted the remarkable achievement of Indian women boxers, with five athletes clinching gold medals, showcasing India’s growing dominance and talent in the sport.
She said the athletes’ courage, determination and excellence represent the rising strength of women in Indian sports and will motivate a new generation of girls to pursue their ambitions and bring laurels to the nation.
Annpurna Devi said that India’s daughters are continuing to create a new era of sporting excellence, supported by the vision and encouragement of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
