NCC Cadets Begin High-Altitude Deo Tibba Mission

Governor Kavinder Gupta today ceremonially flagged off the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Mt Deo Tibba Expedition-2026 from Raj Bhavan/Lok Bhavan, sending off cadets and staff participating in the high-altitude Himalayan mountaineering mission.

Extending his best wishes to the expedition team, the Governor congratulated the cadets and urged them to uphold the NCC’s values of courage, discipline, teamwork, and determination while undertaking the challenging climb in the high Himalayas. He said adventure activities play a key role in shaping confidence, endurance, leadership qualities, and resilience among youth.

The Governor described the NCC as a strong institution of character building, leadership, patriotism, and discipline, adding that it prepares young individuals to become responsible citizens and nation builders. He said such expeditions also promote environmental awareness, physical fitness, and a spirit of national service.

Highlighting the significance of the mission, he said the participating cadets represent the strength and potential of India’s youth and serve as an inspiration for others. He expressed confidence that the expedition would further strengthen their spirit of adventure and resilience.

The Mt Deo Tibba Expedition, reaching an altitude of 6,001 metres, is one of NCC’s premier mountaineering ventures. The team comprises cadets selected from across the country after rigorous training at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Solang Valley. The expedition will involve glacier traversal, snow craft, and high-altitude survival training, and is being led by Wing Commander Kunal Sharma.
