A delegation of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BRICS CCI) called on Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today and discussed avenues to strengthen industry-led global cooperation across the BRICS and BRICS Plus ecosystem, with a focus on innovation, startups and emerging technologies.
The delegation, led by Chairman Sameep Shastri, briefed the Minister on the Chamber’s initiatives over the past decade, including efforts in trade facilitation, business networking, women entrepreneurship, AI, research partnerships and startup collaboration among BRICS nations.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said India’s growing strength in sectors such as space, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy and deep tech offers strong opportunities for international partnerships. He noted that India’s innovation ecosystem has evolved into a key driver of economic growth and entrepreneurship.
He emphasized that platforms like BRICS CCI should go beyond networking and focus on knowledge-driven and innovation-based collaborations that deliver tangible outcomes. He also encouraged deeper sectoral engagement through innovation forums, thematic meetings and structured cooperation.
The Minister highlighted that startups and industry-academia partnerships across BRICS countries can significantly boost technology-led development and global economic engagement. He invited the Chamber to identify focused areas aligned with India’s scientific priorities and develop sector-specific proposals for collaboration with relevant departments.
The BRICS CCI delegation reiterated its commitment to promoting entrepreneurship, research cooperation and business linkages across member countries, aiming to further strengthen India’s role in the global innovation ecosystem.
