New Window to the World

AHS-frntIn current times when the world is busy minting money and almost everyone has become self centered, students of Auckland School, along with various other students belonging to different places including Dehradun, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Bangladesh came under a single roof to discuss the future prospects of the world in form of an intercultural meet being organized by MUN (Modern United Nations) in association with Auckland House School Girls. In this event, nearly 200 students participated as it was inaugurated by Raja Bhasin, famous Historian from Shimla. He expressed his enthusiasm and pleasure to be part of the event as everyone got an opportunity to have a different outlook towards various problems.

AHSG.19.3-(11)Informing about the event, organizers Yashvi Chandan, Director MUN (Mumbai) said that the Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an educational simulation and/or academic competition in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches researching, public speaking, debating and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, team work, and leadership abilities.

“We have been organizing such events in the metro cities but it is for the first time that we came to any hill station and we feel proud to have got this opportunity to organize this event in such a prestigious school which has a great history of its own”, she added further.

Soniya Akhter, one of the participants from Bangladesh shared her views about the whole experience and said, “It is a very good platform. I want to establish myself as a photo journalist in future and therefore the exposure I am receiving at this stage is exceptionally valuable. Fellow participants are very friendly and there is so much to learn from them.”

On the other hand, Sachi Sharma and Yashika Puri students from the host school felt that it was very fortunate for them to be part of such event which is like ones in a lifetime opportunity. It will give us direction and help in forming a brand new vision to the problems in the world and other issues which have become source of reflection on global level. During the second day all the participants were seen dressed in traditional wear and their confidence and enthusiasm was at its peak.
