Senior Auckyites Display their Art and Craft Skills

Taking time off from exhausting academics, girls of Auckland House School Senior Section, Shimla held their Annual Art and Craft Exhibition on 8th August, 2014, that impressed parents and visitors alike. Once a year, Auckland House School puts up an exhibition wherein themes are depicted through still life, landscape, pencil etchings, wrapping sheets and greeting cards. The artifacts by students from class 3rd to 12th were displayed through colourful exhibits.

Students of classes 3rd, 4th and 5th displayed dolls, puppets, glass paintings, woollen purses, doll houses, and amazingly decorated socks and caps. Girls from 6th to 12th showcased their skills as they made jewellery boxes, table cloths, embrioded handkerchiefs, cushion covers, mufflers among few remarkable other items.

Shreya Sood, Kirti Verma, Cheshta Khurana from Class 12, Ankita Raghav, Shruti Viz, Cheshta Khurana, Gauri Sharma from Class 9, Pallavi Chaudhary from Class 11 and many other girls participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Director-Principal Sunita John said, “The exhibition not only sharpens the artistic skill of the students but also inculcates in them the habit of working in unity to put up the exhibition. Art and crafts provide a forum for self-expression, communication, imagination and creativity. Students are required to think critically and differently, make decisions and use their hands to create something that ultimately turns out to be appealing and attractive to the eye”.

Principal of Auckland House Boys School, Michael John was also present on the occasion and appreciated the efforts and hard work of the girls.
