International Coastal Cleanup Day Eve serves as the curtain-raiser for the annual global movement observed on the third Saturday of September. Led by the Ministry of Earth Sciences under the broader Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar framework, the initiative mobilizes central agencies, state administrations, the armed forces, and civil society to protect India’s 11,098-kilometer coastline. Beyond physical shoreline cleanup drives, the occasion focuses on highlighting ocean health, raising public awareness around marine litter and plastic pollution, and linking coastal preservation directly to India’s expanding Blue Economy and scientific initiatives like the Deep Ocean Mission.
Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh marks the official national launch of the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – 100 Weeks Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan. Organized through a partnership between MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme (NSS), this milestone event establishes a long-term framework to combat substance abuse among youth. Grounded in the movement’s ‘Prevent’ pillar, the program uses interactive formats—such as mass pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns, Nukkad Nataks (street plays), and youth-led seminars—to drive sustained engagement, positive lifestyle choices, and active community participation across all states and Union Territories.
