Civil Services Day is observed every year on April 21 in India to recognize the vital role played by civil servants in governance and public service delivery. The day commemorates the historic address of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1947, where he described civil servants as the “steel frame” of the nation. It serves as an occasion to appreciate their dedication, integrity, and efforts in implementing government policies and ensuring efficient administration. On this day, the Government of India also honors outstanding officers for excellence in public administration, while encouraging innovation, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.
