Marking the third day of its Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) in Rashtrapati Niwas, Shimla, hosted a special lecture on Monday by Shri Akhilesh Jha of the ICAS. Delving into Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s iconic composition, Jha explored how the song transcends its literary origins to embody collective memory, cultural aspirations, and the powerful symbolism of the motherland through depictions of strength, prosperity, and knowledge.
The celebratory events also featured the release of the book Academic Writing in English: Enhancing Skill and Using Language as a Resource by Dr. Jasmine Anand, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Additionally, visitors continue to enjoy the ongoing art exhibition by Padma Shri Smt. Shovana Narayan and Nisha Jaiswal alongside a major national book fair. The celebrations will culminate on October 15 with the inauguration of a permanent gallery dedicated to Kangra miniature paintings by the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Kavinder Gupta.
